Shopaholism: Limelight Marketplace NYC

When you think of shopping in New York City, malls and other such indoor spaces rarely come to mind. But Limelight Marketplace has taken this stereotype and turned it on it's head.  They've created a beautifully furnished indoor shopping venue in what used to be a church in the 19th century, and a club in the 20th century.  Incorporating the tall vaulted ceilings and stained glass into a modern meets gothic shopping experience, they've created one of the coolest venues in the city.  With everything from a bar, to a sneaker store (Covert Shoe Lab) to a candy shop and a Grimaldi's outpost, is there really anything you can't find here? Lots of photos after the jump.

What makes the space really cool is that even with all of it's super chic furnishings and trendy stores the vibe is pretty laid back.  When we photographed for this post there was an acrobat performing in the annex and a crowd of people hanging out and watching.  We were met with friendly service at all of the small stores throughout the marketplace and we'll be happily returning soon. Note: for denim freaks in the area there's also a branch of Jean Shop inside!
