JR 'Lakota, North Dakota' Mural at Houston and Bowery

As we mentioned in our post about Kenny Scharf's mural at the huge mural space on Houston and Bowery, NYC, we thought Kenny's mural would soon be replaced.  As of just a few days ago, the space has been covered in a massive photograph by artist JR.  Entitled, "Lakota, North Dakota" the mural is meant to draw attention to the struggles and hardships experienced by the Standing Rock and Pineridge Native Reservations.  The mural is part of a larger project entitled, "Inside Out" that transforms messages of personal identity into art through the use of black and white photography.  We'd love to give you a quick bio of JR but his identity is unconfirmed. In any case, he lets his artwork do the talking and this is no exception.
