Saint Laurent by Hedi Slimane - 16cm Raw Black Skinny Jeans


At Dior Homme, Hedi Slimane made a name for himself crafting super slim silhouettes and making skinny jeans for men the cool thing to wear.  Now at Saint Laurent, Hedi is bringing his signature aesthetic to the newly rebranded fashion house.  Just like he did at Dior, Slimane has gone all black, the only semblance of color is in a small number of leopard print accessories.  He's also geared the collection towards a younger audience.  Military style coats, leather biker jackets and coated black denim is what the line is all about. 

For me, one of the standout pieces is the 16cm skinny jeans.  Dior Homme was known for their 17.5cm skinny, but at Saint Laurent the denim has gotten even narrower.  Using a lightweight raw black denim with zero use of obvious branding, the Saint Laurent skinny jeans are everything you've wanted in luxury denim.  The only indication that they're Saint Laurent other than the tag and the button is the cut of the denim- a signature that defined Dior Jeans and hopefully will come to define Saint Laurent's as well.  You can check the pics below and browse the denim selection online here.
