As part of Fashion Week 2012 Barksdale showed off it's Spring/ Summer 2013 collection titled Albatross inside the Bryant Park Hotel's dungeon-esque Cellar Bar. As Barksdale moves from the realm of the editorial into ready to wear, the use of experimental materials and over the top design has been replaced with prints and textures which capture the feel of their early collections, but make them more wearable. Her amazing creative cuts and styling are still very present, as is her obvious talent for embellishment and attention to detail. The vibe was edgy and dark as the models walked eerily slowly around the circular runway to a celestial heartbeat soundtrack.
The Albatross collection features print in both monochrome and colorful varieties- a departure from the all black Assassins collection from last season. Though there is no tarp, leather scraps or tape in use as fabric, draping and ruffles on some of the pieces bring the feel that those materials previously lent to Marianna's work.
